Where we come from.
It started in 2011. Daniel J. Meyer founds DESCARTABLE TEATRE with a clear premise: integrating communication and creation from day one. The creative process is already part of the experience, and the community will grow in parallel.
That work gives rise to AKA TEATRO. In 2022, SCRATCH premieres at Festival Grec with a subsequent run at La Villarroel. In 2023, UPPGIVENHET debuts at the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya: sold out before opening night. In 2024, LLEGAT opens at Teatre Akadèmia: sold out, touring all of Catalonia, and running a second season. A production that brings together generations —on stage and in the audience— proving that artistic risk and popular ambition don’t exclude each other: they need each other.
With a track record of growth, a commitment to creation, closeness and direct dialogue with audiences, international experience and connections, the know-how of extensive touring across the country, and the certainty that this is the right way to work — RUGIDO TEATRE is born.
In 2026 it is selected for the IMPULSA CULTURA Programme of the Fundació Catalunya Cultura. Everything that was built continues. With a new structure and a clearer intention: to turn this model into a scalable system, with original productions, active internationalisation and a new generation of Catalan playwriting.

Born in Buenos Aires in 1982, he has lived and worked in Barcelona since 2002. Author and director with works premiered at TNC, Festival Grec, Teatre Akadèmia and La Villarroel. Teahcer in Playwriting at Escola Elia. 2 Max Awards, 4 Butaca Awards, Eduardo Escalante Award 2024.
